BEETHOVEN'S PIANO CONCERTO NO. 3

Performed by Alice Sara Ott alongside Nathalie Stutzmann and the London Symphony Orchestra. Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto was first performed by the composer himself in 1803 and has become one of his most popular concerti, filled with an intense dramatic feeling. It is also a concerto in which Beethoven clearly states his own personal style, stepping away from the predominantly Mozartian influence behind his previous works.

MENDELSSOHN'S SYMPHONY NO. 4

Mendelssohn’s sunny ‘Italian’ Symphony dances to an Antipodean beat with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra under chief conductor Eivind Aadland. Felix Mendelssohn was an avid traveller. He spent nine months or so in Italy in 1830-31 where he jotted down ideas that would make their way into his Symphony No. 4, ‘Italian’. Writing to his sister, Fanny, from Rome in February 1831.

MAHLER'S SYMPHONY NO. 5

Fabio Luisi leads the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in this 2024 performance of Gustav Mahler's transformative Symphony No. 5 from the Morton H. Myerson Symphony Center. This extraordinary work unfolds in a sweeping voyage from the somber depths of its opening funeral march to its radiant finale, marked by the beloved Adagietto—Mahler’s poignant tribute to love and hope.
