About the Sinfónica de Minería
The Sinfónica de Minería stands as one of the most distinguished and acclaimed ensembles in Latin America. Their live performances are celebrated for their vibrancy and commitment to delivering unforgettable musical experiences to audiences. Their recordings have earned five Grammy nominations, and they won a Latin Grammy in the "Best Classical Composition" category for their recording with Pacho Flores on the trumpet, playing Paquito D'Rivera's Concierto Venezolano. Sinfónica de Minería is the first Mexican orchestra to record with the legendary Deutsche Grammophon label and the first Latin American orchestra to participate in the prestigious Bravo! Vail Music Festival. It has commissioned over fifty works from living composers, marking it as one of the most supportive institutions of contemporary Latin American music. Currently, Sinfónica de Minería is recording the complete orchestral works of Silvestre Revueltas, a groundbreaking project in the history of art in Mexico.
History:
Sinfónica de Minería was created through the joint efforts of the Mexican business community, the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA), and UNAM. Its birth was a response to the need for a world-class symphonic ensemble that could contribute to the cultural vibrancy of Mexico.
Led by the visionaries of the time, including conductor Jorge Velazco and a group of dedicated musicians, Sinfónica de Minería embarked on its musical journey. The orchestra's name pays homage to the iconic Palacio de Minería, a neoclassical building in Mexico City where its early concerts were held.

Over the years, Sinfónica de Minería has evolved and matured under the guidance of various renowned conductors (Jorge Velazco, Luis Herrera de la Fuente, Carlos Spierer, and Carlos Miguel Prieto). It has collaborated with esteemed soloists, both Mexican and international, like como Kathleen Battle, Paquito D´Rivera, Maureen Forrester, Hans Richter-Hasser, Gabriela Montero, Philippe Quint, Leonid Kogan, Pacho Flores, Francisco Araiza, Ramón Vargas, Diana Damrau, John Ogdon, Sonya Yoncheva, Fiorenza Cossotto, Nicanor Zabaleta, Elina Garanca, Juan Diego Florez, Eugen Fodor, Pablo Sáinz-Villegas, Javier Camarena, Nadine Sierra, Jean-Yves Thibaudet or Vadin Gluzman.
